About The Position

This position provides instruction and supervision in the refrigeration mechanic trade, both in the classroom and through hands-on training assignments. It supports safe facility operations while helping inmates learn practical skills for future success. As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties: Trade Instruction: Teach standard practices, methods, and procedures related to refrigeration and air conditioning systems Classroom Guidance: Deliver curriculum, maintain order, and document inmate progress and attendance Work Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews, plan schedules, and inspect completed assignments Tool Control: Issue, inventory, and account for all tools and materials used in training and work tasks Supply Planning: Determine materials needed and submit purchase requests for tools and equipment Related Duties: Provide additional support tasks as assigned to maintain safe and effective operations.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
  • Possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
