About The Position

The Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor position with the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Cambridge Springs helps build valuable skills that support secure and efficient facility operations. Requirements

• Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
• Possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Meet the PA residency requirement.
• Able to perform essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Teach standard methods and procedures for installing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining refrigeration and air conditioning systems
• Conduct classroom lessons that follow an appropriate refrigeration mechanic curriculum
• Oversee inmate work crews and direct completion of refrigeration work orders during training
• Maintain documentation of inmate attendance, training progress, assignments, and completed work
• Issue and inventory all materials and tools used during training and conduct searches to ensure proper accountability
• Determine needed materials and tools for work assignments and submit purchase requests when necessary
