About The Position
This role lets you apply hands-on expertise to keep doors, locks, and security systems functioning safely. Your work helps maintain secure spaces for staff, inmates, and visitors at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Cambridge Springs. This position offers a chance to take pride in work that supports safety and daily operations. This position focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing locking devices and related mechanisms to support the safety of SCI Cambridge Springs. You will work with mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic systems that ensure secure operations throughout the facility.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in the locksmith trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain standard and specialized locking systems
- Create keys, log damaged or lost keys, and maintain master key sets
- Track tools, materials, and supplies needed for work assignments
- Oversee inmates performing non-security tasks such as moving materials or repairing door components
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation of repairs, inspections, and adjustments
- Search inmates and work areas for contraband and support safe operations
