About The Position

Wilkes University invites applicants for a full-time Locksmith position (Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm) in the Campus Support Services Department. Applicant must be fully committed to providing quality service to our students, faculty and staff. The successful candidate is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electronic lock systems, door checks/closers and panic exit devices, along with all other types of door hardware. He must have the ability to make keys and cores. He also maintains constructs and performs major or minor carpentry repairs, renovations, alterations and installations of building structures, components, millwork items and furnishings. Practical knowledge of all trades, assisting with predictive and preventative maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and machinery, as well as seasonal snow removal is required. On call status is required with a reasonable response time.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid PA driver's license.
Proficient technical skills to perform associated tasks.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to read and comprehend safety regulations and other documentation pertinent to the position.
Basic knowledge of computers (Word, Excel and web based applications).

Nice To Haves

A minimum of five (5) years prior experience in all aspects of the lock tech/carpentry field.
Practical knowledge of various trades, i.e. electrical, plumbing and painting.

Responsibilities

Installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic lock systems, door checks/closers, and panic exit devices.
Installing, maintaining, and repairing all other types of door hardware.
Making keys and cores.
Maintaining, constructing, and performing major or minor carpentry repairs, renovations, alterations, and installations of building structures, components, millwork items, and furnishings.
Assisting with predictive and preventative maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and machinery.
Performing seasonal snow removal.
Being on call with a reasonable response time.
