Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor - SCI Frackville
About The Position
This position focuses on teaching automotive mechanic trades skills in both classroom and hands-on settings. Work helps create a productive environment while fostering lasting, positive change. As a Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties: Classroom Instruction: Deliver lessons on automotive practices, methods, and procedures Training Oversight: Guide inmates through inspection, repair, and overhaul tasks on various vehicles Work Crew Direction: Assign tasks, oversee and review completed Record Keeping: Maintain documentation of training progress, assignments, and attendance Tool Control: Issue, track, and complete searches to ensure all tools and materials are accounted for Resource Planning: Determine and request needed tools and materials for task, assignments, and work orders.
Requirements
- Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.
- Possess an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider.
- Possess an active motor vehicle license.
- Possess an active Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection certification and an active Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic certification for class C vehicles and any other class of vehicles used in the facility.
- Meet the PA residency requirement.
- Be able to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
