About The Position
This role gives you the chance to teach practical skills that help inmates succeed in daily food service tasks. You will guide and support individuals as they learn safe and efficient kitchen practices. Your leadership helps create a structured, productive, and positive work environment.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates food preparation, baking, production, service, and safe equipment use
- Inspect food areas and supplies to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards
- Adjust food quantities based on census data and recycle leftover food to reduce waste
- Assign tasks, review performance, and maintain care, custody, and control of inmate workers
- Requisition, receive, and store food items while following first-in, first-out procedures
