About The Position
The Department of Corrections is looking for a Corrections Food Service Instructor who wants to lead with purpose. Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates how to prepare, produce, serve, and bake food items
- Demonstrate and oversee proper cleaning, maintenance, equipment use, and storage practices
- Modify recipes based on census and menu data and reuse leftovers to reduce waste
- Request, receive, and store food and supplies while enforcing first-in, first-out procedures
- Plan tasks, monitor inmate performance, and maintain accurate work records
- Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during all assigned work activities
