About The Position

The Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Corrections Nurse 1/2 to join the team at the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC), located in Seward, Alaska. This position involves providing essential healthcare in a secure facility housing male inmates. Nurses in correctional settings exercise autonomy and must become fluent in policy, procedures, and protocols, with a deep understanding of their scope of practice.

Requirements

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
For Corrections Nurse 2: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska; AND EITHER Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse I with the State of Alaska; OR One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse.
Alaska Registered Nursing License or within 30 days of graduation from nursing program.
Professional License: Alaska Registered Nursing License or ability to obtain one
3 Professional References, 2 of which must be supervisory
Resume
Must pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
Must provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees are required to be tested annually.

Nice To Haves

Prior service as a Corrections Nurse I, Psychiatric Nurse I, or Nurse I with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
Combinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med-Surg, Psychiatric, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.
