About The Position
Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Corrections Food Service Instructor at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Waymart and help guide inmates in learning valuable culinary skills. Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates proper methods for preparing, cooking, baking, and serving meals
- Train inmates in proper use of tools, equipment, cleaning procedures, and sanitation standards
- Inspect kitchen areas and adjust recipes or supplies based on census and menu needs
- Requisition, receive, store, and rotate food and supplies using first-in, first-out procedures
- Assign tasks, review performance, and maintain custody and control of inmate workers
- Assist with other related food service responsibilities as assigned
