About The Position
As a Corrections Food Service Instructor with the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Muncy, you will play a key role in teaching important food service skills. Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, and serve food according to recipes and safety rules.
- Inspect kitchen areas and equipment to ensure proper cleaning and safe food handling.
- Receive, store, and rotate food items and supplies following established procedures.
- Plan daily inmate work tasks and review completed assignments for accuracy and quality.
- Maintain records, evaluate inmate workers, and provide feedback on their progress.
- Maintain proper custody and control of inmates while ensuring safe operation of tools and equipment.
