About The Position

The Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor for the Department of Corrections plays an important role in helping inmates build valuable skills at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix. This position combines hands-on electronics work with meaningful instruction in a structured learning environment. It offers steady challenges that strengthen your technical abilities and leadership. Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the testing and repair of electronic equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Teach inmates electronics skills through classroom lessons and supervised hands on work
  • Repair and maintain communication, security, and electronic systems used throughout the institution
  • Issue, track, and secure tools and materials used in training and work assignments
  • Assign tasks to inmate work crews and inspect completed work for accuracy and quality
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot cabling, network jacks, and electronic components across the facility
  • Maintain training records, inventories, and documentation for maintenance and repair activities
