About The Position
As a Corrections Equipment Operator with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy, you will support the freight and delivery needs that keep operations moving. Requirements
- Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; or A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailers, trucks, and other motor vehicles to complete daily work assignments
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, conduct safety checks, and complete minor equipment repairs
- Train and monitor inmate workers in loading and unloading methods, equipment repair, and completion of bills of lading
- Prepare receipts, logs, attendance records, lost hours, inmate bonuses, and other routine reports
- Safeguard the work area, issue and inventory tools and materials, and search inmates and work areas for contraband
