About The Position
As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette, you will help maintain and operate the systems that provide heat and hot water to the facility. Requirements
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain efficient operation of high temperature hot water and steam boilers under normal and emergency conditions
- Read gauges, meters, and sensing devices and perform scheduled and non-routine equipment maintenance
- Operate and maintain pumps, fans, control systems, and related support equipment
- Test boiler water chemistry and maintain logs and inventories for water treatment supplies
- Monitor inmate workers, maintain safety, conduct searches, and ensure tool and supply control
- Report concerns to supervisors and complete required paperwork and inventories
