About The Position
Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Corrections Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer and lead critical operations that keep the entire facility running safely and efficiently. Requirements
- One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant
- Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than the Class E, Subclasses 1 and 4
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
Responsibilities
- Maintain smooth and efficient operation of the treatment plant under normal and emergency conditions
- Operate and maintain plant machinery such as pumps, motors, filters, and other mechanical systems
- Perform testing of influent and effluent water and maintain logs and records
- Guide inmate workers, monitor movement, and maintain security procedures in work areas
- Complete paperwork, order supplies, and make recommendations for equipment or process improvements
