About The Position

The Licensed Psychologist Manager with the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers a rewarding and challenging career leading mental health services at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. This role places you at the center of one of the largest mental health treatment systems. You guide clinical practices, strengthen services, and support inmates who rely on quality psychological care. This position allows you to influence operations and contribute to long-term improvements across the facility.

Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board.
  • Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise psychological staff and support evaluations, therapeutic interventions, and crisis response
  • Develop and guide mental health programs while integrating new policies and procedures
  • Lead or participate on review teams and committees that support assessment, safety, and treatment planning
  • Evaluate test interpretations and prepare detailed psychological and behavioral reports
  • Advise managers and staff on mental health concerns and treatment planning for specialized units
  • Maintain standards for psychological services and provide expert testimony when required
