About The Position

The Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections position with the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers a meaningful opportunity to support inmates through careful assessment, structured counseling, and strong program oversight. You will lead staff who work in a secure and closely regulated environment, ensuring that services meet the complex needs found in a correctional setting. Your work will guide treatment plans, influence key decisions, and support the efforts of multiple mental health teams within the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. This position supports the delivery of mental health services at SCI Albion through supervision, evaluation, and program development.

Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the work of psychological staff and participate in evaluations, screenings, and therapeutic services
  • Develop and integrate policies and procedures to guide counseling and psychological programs
  • Lead multiple mental health and review committees across the institution
  • Review diagnostic tests, evaluate reports, and set competencies and privileges for psychological staff
  • Advise staff on treatment needs within behavioral management and special needs units
  • Provide expert testimony and ensure compliance with accreditation standards
