The Safety & Risk Management Coordinator supports the daily operations of the Facilities department by coordinating safety, risk mitigation, and compliance functions across all Metrocare locations. This role proactively identifies and addresses facility-related risks, ensures ongoing compliance with ADA accessibility and life safety standards, and promotes a secure and accessible work environment. The coordinator plays an active role in Metrocare’s Safety Committee and Environment of Care initiatives, leads routine audits of life safety equipment, and serves as the primary liaison with the Texas Council Risk Management Fund (TCRMF) for all insurance-related matters.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in safety, accessibility, or risk management related role
  • 2 years of experience in a safety, accessibility, or risk management related role
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, or related field
  • PSP (Physical Security Professional) or Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of Metrocare’s Safety Committee and Environment of Care Committee.
  • Lead and coordinate life safety equipment audits across all facilities, including fire extinguishers, AEDs, emergency lighting, exit signage, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Act as primary liaison with the Texas Council Risk Management Fund (TCRMF), coordinating annual insurance applications, claims investigations, and coverage verifications.
  • Identify, assess, and report facility-related risks such as safety hazards, security concerns, and equipment malfunctions; ensure timely resolution and mitigation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure compliance with Metrocare’s safety protocols, risk management standards, and ADA requirements.
  • Support the creation, tracking, and resolution of incident and accident reports; ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented.
  • Maintain and update preventative maintenance and inspection schedules to reduce operational risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate small-scale ADA accessibility improvements, including signage, ramps, and pathway modifications.
  • Conduct periodic site visits and inspections to monitor compliance with safety, risk, and accessibility standards; maintain detailed documentation.
  • Oversee and document RFQs and vendor onboarding to ensure alignment with insurance and risk management criteria.
  • Disseminate safety procedures, risk alerts, and emergency response protocols to staff in coordination with leadership.
  • Provide on-site support for after-hours facility emergencies or urgent repair needs.
  • Process and track invoices related to safety, risk management, and accessibility projects.
  • Perform administrative support functions including report preparation, documentation management, and delivery of safety-related materials to facilities as needed.
