About The Position

The Coordinator, Business Continuity plays a key role in safeguarding Simon Fraser University’s ability to deliver its academic and operational mission in the face of disruption. Reporting to the Director, Business Continuity and Emergency Management, the position leads the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of SFU’s Business Continuity program across all three campuses. The role supports departments in identifying operational risks, conducting business impact analyses, and developing practical continuity plans that align with institutional priorities. The role is ideal for a collaborative professional motivated to make a meaningful impact on organizational resilience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Business Continuity Management, or a related discipline, and two years of directly related experience in business continuity, including leading BIAs, coordinating continuity planning activities, and facilitating exercises and recovery processes or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of business continuity principles and frameworks (e.g., ISO 22301, BCI GPG, CSA Z1600).
  • Strong knowledge of computer programs.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent program planning, development, evaluation, and training skills.
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, and presentation) skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of empathy, tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Ability to apply multidimensional systems thinking and demonstrate self-awareness.
  • Ability to solve problems with a collaborative approach.
  • Proficient in the use of word processing, database, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing applications.

Responsibilities
