About The Position

Silverado Newport Mesa is hiring a Cook to prepare nourishing meals for residents in a memory care setting. The role combines food preparation, meal presentation, and hospitality while supporting residents with neurodegenerative conditions. The Cook follows dietary needs and individual nutritional requirements, maintains kitchen cleanliness and safety, and supports the culinary team. The schedule is full time on the AM shift, Tuesday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The anticipated pay range is $20–$23 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or educational equivalent.
At least 1 year of food preparation and cooking experience, including grilling, sautéing, broiling, frying, and baking.
Food Handlers Certificate from the County Department of Environmental Health.
Knowledge of food safety regulations.
Effective verbal and written communication in English.
Ability to read and follow menus and recipes, including substitutions.
Willingness to work with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Ability to walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Reliable transportation to meet attendance and punctuality standards.
Comfort working around animals and pets.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals for residents in accordance with dietary needs.
Ensure food items are accurate, high quality, well presented, and served on time.
Modify meals as directed to meet individual nutritional requirements.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards.
Perform other duties as needed to support the culinary team.
