About The Position

Silverado Newport Mesa is hiring a Cook to prepare and serve nourishing meals for residents in a memory care setting. The role combines food preparation, creativity, and hospitality, with a focus on supporting residents’ health and happiness. The Cook works with the culinary team to meet residents’ dietary and individual nutritional needs while maintaining food quality, presentation, timeliness, cleanliness, and kitchen safety. The schedule is full time, Tuesday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, on the AM shift. The anticipated pay range is $20–$23 USD.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or educational equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking, including grilling, sautéing, broiling, frying, and baking.
Food Handlers Certificate from the County Department of Environmental Health.
Knowledge of food safety regulations.
Effective verbal and written communication in English.
Ability to read and follow menus and recipes, including substitutions.
Willingness to work with individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
Ability to walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Reliable transportation to meet attendance and punctuality standards.
Comfort working around animals and pets.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals for residents in accordance with dietary needs.
Ensure food items are accurate, high quality, well presented, and served on time.
Modify meals as directed to meet individual nutritional requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen.
Perform other duties as needed to support the culinary team.
