About The Position

The Village at Summerville is seeking a professional and compassionate Cook to help create a warm, homelike experience for residents. The Cook prepares meals and plates according to residents’ diets, maintains a clean and orderly kitchen, monitors sanitation and food temperatures, and checks ingredient quality. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods, including grilling, baking, and boiling.
• Knowledge of cooking temperatures for various types of food, including meats, vegetables, and desserts.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• One year of cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, or hospitality setting.

• ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with the required ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Establish the line for each meal period and prepare plates according to resident diets, including late trays.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, such as chopping and peeling vegetables and cutting meat.
• Dress dishes before serving to ensure good presentation.
• Maintain a sanitized and orderly kitchen environment.
• Monitor sanitation procedures according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
• Monitor hot and cold temperature logs daily.
• Ensure food and other items are stored properly.
• Check the quality of ingredients.
