About The Position

The Cook prepares menu items according to established standards and recipes, ensuring food is high quality, attractively presented, and served in a timely fashion. The role follows health protocols, including proper hygiene, sanitary food preparation, and maintaining appropriate food temperatures. The Cook gets to know residents and their preferences and needs and participates in resident orientations. The position is part-time at Montvale in Springfield, Illinois, scheduled Fridays and Saturdays from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at $18.25–$21.25 per hour.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Be able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English with residents.
Hold a current Food Handlers Card as specified by the Department of Health.
Demonstrate skills, knowledge, and competency in leadership, training, and supervision.
Have proficient written and oral communication skills with management, professional, and support staff.
Be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop throughout the day.
Be able to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Be comfortable working in close contact with extreme temperatures, including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers.
Be able to work primarily indoors and also be available to work outside for events.
Pass criminal clearance.
