About The Position
Scripps Health is hiring an experienced Cook for its Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas campus. The Cook team coordinates and prepares high-volume meals for patients, the cafeteria, catering, and special events. The role supports safe food handling, volume food production, menu development and modification, meal assembly and portion control, inventory management, and infection control and sanitation. The Cook follows established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with food-safety and regulatory requirements. This is a full-time position working 64 hours every two weeks. The schedule varies, including Sundays, and the start time depends on departmental needs.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- At least 6 months of experience in quantity food preparation, or graduation from an approved culinary program.
- Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate, or ability to pass the Food Handlers Test administered by a verified manager or designee.

- Experience in quantity food preparation in healthcare.
- ServSafe Certificate.
- Formal culinary or quantity cooking education.
