About The Position

The Diet Clerk provides administrative and clerical support for Food and Nutrition Services at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. The role processes diet orders, assists patients with menu selections, and distinguishes food allergies from medication allergies. The Diet Clerk maintains current diet orders and menus to ensure compliance with physician diet orders, checks the tray line for patient tray accuracy, and functions effectively in a call center environment. The position also serves as a liaison between Nursing and Food and Nutrition Services, handling patient complaints, food issues, and basic questions about meals and diets. This is a part-time, fully benefitted position at the Scripps Memorial campus in Encinitas. The employee must be available for a varied shift, with the start time dependent on departmental needs, and a varied schedule that includes weekends.

Requirements

Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
Must have an San Diego County Food Handler Card or Food Safety Certificate, or be able to pass a Food Handlers test given by a certified manager or designee within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves
