About The Position

The Cook prepares meals in volume for patients, the cafeteria, catering, and special events at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. The role supports food service operations including safe food handling, volume food production, menu development and modification, meal assembly and portion control, inventory management, and infection control and sanitation. The Cook follows established policies and procedures to comply with food and safety regulatory requirements. This is a full-time position working 64 hours every two weeks at the Scripps Memorial campus in Encinitas. The employee must be available for a varied shift, with start time dependent on departmental needs, and a varied schedule that includes Sundays. The position is part of a friendly community hospital environment and offers the opportunity to work alongside caregivers in a patient-centered healthcare organization.

Requirements

Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
At least 6 months of experience in quantity food preparation or graduation from an approved culinary program.
Must have a Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate, or be able to pass a Food Handlers Test administered by a verified manager or designee.
Must be available for a varied shift and schedule, including Sundays.

Nice To Haves

Experience in quantity food preparation in healthcare.
