About The Position

The Cook works in the culinary team at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center, preparing dishes according to standard recipes and presentations established by the Chef. The role supports a range of kitchen operations, including a la carte station setup, banquet, kitchen line, and food preparation functions. The Cook prepares mise en place before service and maintains an organized, clean, and sanitary workstation in compliance with local and federal health codes. The position is hiring for the PM shift. Full-time schedules are 30–40 hours per week depending on business forecasts, with workdays varying according to business needs. Availability is required for Texas A&M football game days, Ring Days, graduations, special events, and other high-occupancy periods; overtime may be expected when business levels require it.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of previous culinary experience in a professional kitchen environment.
• Active food handler certification or the ability to obtain it.
• Willingness to work a variety of day, night, and weekend shifts.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Desire to exceed expectations.
• Energetic personality.
• Availability to work Texas A&M football game days, Ring Days, graduations, and other high-occupancy periods.

Responsibilities

• Check with leadership for daily objectives.
• Support setup of a la carte stations required for mealtimes.
• Prepare dishes according to standard recipes and presentations established by the Chef.
• Prepare, clean, and organize the workstation.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary culinary environment in compliance with local and federal health codes.
• Perform banquet, kitchen line, and preparation functions as directed by the Executive Chef, Hotel Chef, and Sous Chefs.
• Complete mise en place before the start of service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
