About The Position

The Cook at Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown prepares high-quality food and guest orders in a fast-paced kitchen. The role involves preparing menu items according to recipes and quality standards, carrying out basic food preparation and cooking, and supporting higher-ranked cooks. The Cook also inspects dishes before service, maintains clean and stocked food stations, uses kitchen equipment and recipes, and follows food-handling, safety, sanitation, health, and alcohol-awareness requirements. Availability from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. is required, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of culinary experience.
• Availability to work from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation and simple cooking tasks.
• Ability to follow recipes and quality standards and maintain food-handling, safety, and sanitation protocols.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items according to designated recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare guest orders efficiently while supporting a positive dining experience.
• Perform basic food preparation and simple cooking tasks, such as salads, sides, and basic breakfast items, to assist higher-ranked cooks.
• Inspect food preparations and dishes before serving to ensure quality and presentation standards.
• Keep food service stations stocked and sanitary, following food-handling, storage, and safety protocols.
• Master kitchen equipment and recipes to meet product and operational needs.
• Comply with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol-awareness regulations.
