About The Position

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety division is hiring a part-time Cook 1 for Three Leaf Catering in the campus Hospitality department. Three Leaf Catering provides food and hospitality for campus events ranging from intimate gatherings and student functions to large university banquets, with an emphasis on quality, service, innovation, customer satisfaction, community, and sustainability.

This entry-level role is suited to someone beginning a culinary career. The Cook 1 develops foundational cooking skills in a professional kitchen by carrying out basic food preparation and supporting the team.

Requirements

• Manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Be positive, respectful, and committed to the schedule created.
• Have excellent communication and listening skills.
• Stand for extended periods, up to six hours at a time.
• Move, lift, and handle equipment, supplies, and other objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Position oneself to move items weighing up to 25 pounds from the floor to shelves and cabinets above and below counter height.
• Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and organizing mise en place.
• Prepare simple menu items such as salads, sandwiches, and breakfast dishes according to recipes.
• Keep the workstation clean and stocked during service.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards.
• Receive and store deliveries and supplies correctly under supervision.
