About The Position

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety division is hiring a part-time Cook 1 for Three Leaf Catering in the campus Hospitality department. Three Leaf Catering provides food and hospitality for campus events ranging from intimate gatherings and student functions to large-scale university banquets. The role is an entry-level opportunity to develop foundational cooking skills in a professional kitchen, focusing on basic food preparation and supporting the team.

Requirements

• Manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Be positive, respectful, and committed to the schedule created.
• Have strong communication and listening skills.
• Be able to stand for extended periods, up to six hours at a time.
• Be able to move, lift, and handle equipment, supplies, and other objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Be able to move items weighing up to 25 pounds from the floor to shelves and cabinets above and below counter height.
• Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and organizing mise en place.
• Prepare simple menu items such as salads, sandwiches, and breakfast dishes, following recipes accurately.
• Maintain a clean and stocked workstation during service.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards.
• Receive and correctly store deliveries and supplies under supervision.
