Convenience Store Clerk - South Central FS, Inc. - Windsor, IL
About The Position
The Convenience Store Clerk is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service; processing sales quickly and accurately; operating the cash register; preparing food; stocking and cleaning; and safeguarding company assets. The role supports the store’s day-to-day operation and profitability by ensuring products are priced and sold correctly, maintaining the location’s appearance, and following policies for regulated products. The clerk may prepare and maintain fast food offerings according to Health Department standards and store policies for cleanliness and freshness, and may manage inventory and place regular orders for fast food products. Employment is contingent on applicable, acceptable job-related background, drug, motor vehicle, or reference checks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, normally required.
- Related experience and/or training demonstrating the ability to accurately handle cash transactions, generate profitable sales, and build repeat customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding service to every customer.
- Ensure products are priced and sold correctly and positively promoted to support facility profitability.
- Follow all sales policies for legally regulated products.
- Operate cash registers accurately and efficiently, and maintain cash and receipts accurately.
- Complete day-to-day administrative tasks, including shift reports, fund reconciliation, and a start-up sheet for each shift.
- Maintain the appearance of the location inside and outside.
- Follow the uniform policy and maintain an appropriate professional image.
- Work with suppliers to ensure products are delivered, verified against invoices, and stocked promptly.
- Stock shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays, and check inventory expiration dates.
- Communicate customer requests to management.
- Attend employee meetings.
- Prepare and maintain fast food offerings in accordance with Health Department standards and store policies for cleanliness and freshness, if required.
- Maintain inventory of fast food items and place regular product orders, if required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
