Convenience Store Associate
About The Position
The Convenience Store Associate works independently to display and stock products while contributing to the store’s financial best interest. The role is responsible for meeting company guidelines for guest experience and complying with safety and food safety requirements. Duties include processing financial transactions, assisting with receiving and stocking products, performing front-end and register duties, communicating store programs and promotions to customers, maintaining clean and stocked areas, and following company policies and procedures. Associates may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
- Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions—including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, bottle refunds, voids, and coupons—accurately and in accordance with company policy.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking products in required store areas.
- Perform front-end duties, including running the cash register, suggestive selling, enrolling guests in the loyalty program, and keeping the service area clean and neat.
- Use product identification and corresponding PLUs properly and report pricing or signage errors.
- Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations, including One More Item, and assist with executing the department flight plan.
- Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers, and model high standards of service.
- Follow company policies concerning security, cash handling and cash drawer accounting, product handling, and sales of alcohol and tobacco products.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked department and outside grounds, and ensure compliance with company safety and sanitation procedures and standards.
- Assist with stocking items on the sales floor, in the cooler, and in the back room.
- Follow all PPE and safety guidelines.
- Follow all food safety and cleaning expectations.
- Follow guest experience guidelines.
- Perform tasks in other departments as assigned based on customer experience needs.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
