About The Position

Working in close collaboration with the external communication director and manager, this individual is responsible for writing, researching, filming and developing content or messaging in support of Essentia Health’s strategic communication goals. Based on experience and expertise, communication specialists may perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: creating and executing digital content calendars, developing priority messaging, building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external partners, collaborating across teams and functions to manage content calendars, analyzing engagement metrics and performance data and other tactical execution in support of strategic communication plans.

Requirements

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging to align with Essentia Health’s voice and values.
  • Experience creating content for digital platforms, including social media or advertising.
  • Proficiency in basic graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Canto).
  • Experience using AI tools for content creation.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with performance metrics and data analysis to inform content strategies.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, healthcare, community impact, and supporting organizational goals through creative storytelling.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with a preference in journalism, English, communications, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine engaging digital content, including web stories, social media posts, and other materials, to support Essentia Health’s communications initiatives.
  • Ensure all content reflects Essentia Health’s mission, values, and commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate with the communications specialists to create and implement content strategies that inspire community support, increase awareness, and drive engagement on social media pages and traffic to Essentia’s newsroom.
  • Manage and maintain Essentia’s online newsroom and work in close coordination with Digital Marketing to develop and support Essentia’s content hub.
  • Tailor messaging to diverse audiences, testing various approaches to optimize performance and meet strategic goals.
  • Create and edit short-form videos for social media platforms, campaigns, and community outreach.
  • Partner with designers and video producers to ensure high-quality creative assets that align with Essentia Health’s branding and messaging.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and discussions to understand campaign priorities, organizational goals, and messaging needs.
  • Implement feedback from internal stakeholders and leadership to refine and improve content.
  • Coordinate with communications, marketing, community relations, and operations teams to ensure content is properly formatted, accessible, and distributed across digital platforms.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and performance data to assess the effectiveness of content and projects.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify high-performing content and apply insights to future strategies.
  • Stay informed on healthcare industry trends, digital marketing best practices, and emerging platforms to enhance Essentia Health’s digital presence.
