Content Marketer

Compound Content Studio
•$75,000 - $95,000

About The Position

Compound is a content and creative services agency that helps founders and companies use content to drive business outcomes, with a focus on executive-led LinkedIn content. The Content Marketer will own the day-to-day execution of Compound’s marketing and build a consistent process from idea generation through publication. The role includes developing ideas, gathering input from the CEO, drafting newsletter and LinkedIn content, and coordinating external partners, including the YouTube agency. The goal is to publish consistently and grow Compound’s audience without relying on the CEO to drive every step. The Content Marketer will stay close to discussions on LinkedIn and X, identify emerging topics and audience questions, and develop original angles that connect those conversations to Compound’s expertise. The CEO will initially oversee strategy and provide direction and feedback. As the marketer develops a stronger understanding of the audience, positioning, and business, the role will take on increasing ownership of content planning and marketing strategy. The position is open to candidates with approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience, as well as earlier-career candidates with strong writing samples and the ability to learn quickly. Compound values the quality of a candidate’s work, judgment, and follow-through over a specific number of years of experience. The role is open to candidates located in the US or Canada, offers annual compensation of USD 75,000–95,000, and reports to the CEO.

Requirements

  • Approximately 2–5 years of experience in content marketing, writing, communications, or a related role; candidates with 1–2 years of experience and strong work samples are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to clarify ideas, find interesting angles, and remove unnecessary words.
  • Strong content instincts and the ability to explain why a topic matters, what makes an angle interesting, and why someone would stop to read or watch.
  • Active interest in conversations on LinkedIn and X, familiarity with relevant voices, and the ability to distinguish useful content opportunities from passing trends.
  • Writing samples demonstrating the ability to create engaging content; newsletters and LinkedIn posts are especially relevant.
  • Ability to capture another person’s voice and turn rough ideas into a cohesive draft.
  • Initiative and follow-through, including bringing ideas, identifying next steps, and moving work forward without needing detailed instructions at every step.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and clear communication with teammates and external partners.
  • Comfort receiving feedback, reviewing performance, and adjusting approach.
  • Desire to grow from owning marketing execution into greater strategic responsibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience growing a newsletter or social audience.
  • Experience coordinating agencies or freelancers.
  • Experience working on a YouTube channel.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor LinkedIn and X discussions, especially those related to B2B marketing, content, and executive branding, to identify emerging conversations, audience questions, and opportunities for Compound to contribute.
  • Generate original ideas for newsletters, LinkedIn posts, and YouTube videos, including specific angles and hooks relevant to Compound’s audience and expertise.
  • Source ideas from internal conversations, client work, recordings, and agency insights.
  • Draft useful, engaging newsletter content, develop subject lines and openings, incorporate feedback, and prepare polished drafts for approval and publication.
  • Maintain a consistent newsletter schedule and develop and test ways to convert social audiences into newsletter subscribers.
  • Draft LinkedIn posts for Compound’s executives that reflect their individual voices, perspectives, and expertise.
  • Proactively gather executive input through conversations, recordings, and notes; turn rough ideas into clear posts with strong hooks and specific takeaways; and coordinate reviews and revisions.
  • Use audience feedback and content performance to refine future topics and formats.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for marketing vendors and agencies, managing briefs, deliverables, feedback, and timelines.
  • Manage the YouTube agency relationship; collaborate on video ideas, titles, thumbnails, and publishing plans; review deliverables for alignment; and assess performance with the agency to recommend improvements.
  • Maintain the content calendar and manage drafts, approvals, and deadlines across channels.
  • Create an organized, repeatable process that makes it easy for the CEO to contribute expertise and provide feedback.
  • Follow up on outstanding input and approvals, flag obstacles early, and keep work moving.
  • Identify opportunities to repurpose ideas across LinkedIn, the newsletter, and YouTube.
  • Track performance, identify what is working, and recommend what to test next.
  • Gradually assume more responsibility for content planning and marketing strategy as understanding of the business develops.
  • Build a reliable publishing process that requires progressively less day-to-day coordination from the CEO.
  • Grow relevant newsletter, executive LinkedIn, and YouTube audiences through useful content, effective promotion, strong content packaging, and performance-informed improvements.
  • Attract an audience relevant to Compound’s business and build relationships that may lead to future clients and referrals.
