Consumer Product Designer

Base Power Company•Austin, TX

About The Position

Base is a next-generation power company building a distributed battery network to create a more resilient electricity grid. The Consumer Product Designer will shape how people discover, understand, and get started with Base, creating a cohesive experience across the customer journey. The role spans the website, enrollment experience, and mobile app, improving existing experiences and building new features as the company grows. The designer will use customer insights, product metrics, enrollment funnels, and member behavior to identify opportunities, uncover friction, and improve usability, engagement, and conversion. They will independently explore and own solutions from concept through launch, work closely with engineering, growth, operations, and design, and evaluate performance after launch to guide ongoing improvements. The role also involves prototyping with AI, code, and emerging tools; making complex energy and grid concepts approachable; and contributing to the evolution of Base’s design systems. Base’s Design team works across digital experiences, physical products, campaigns, sales, and events. It is a small, ambitious team focused on high craft, ownership, resourcefulness, and solving problems within real-world constraints. As a startup, Base’s priorities and responsibilities may shift as business needs evolve. The company works in person, and describes the work as not being a 9-to-5 commitment.
