About The Position

SCG Fields, LLC is seeking an entry-level Construction Manager to lead assigned construction projects in the Great Lakes region. This role is responsible for the successful execution of projects from start to finish, acting as the main field representative for SCG Fields. The Construction Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders including Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and general contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This position requires strong leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving abilities, and is suitable for recent graduates or professionals with less than three years of experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, project sequencing, labor planning, equipment management, and cost control.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Ability to travel extensively to projects throughout the United States.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience using Raken, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software.
  • Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • Working knowledge of GPS layout, grading, surveying, or machine control technology.
  • PMP, CCM, or other construction management certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field execution efforts for assigned construction projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Serve as SCG Fields' primary on-site representative with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction throughout every project.
  • Develop project logistics plans, sequencing strategies, schedules, and critical milestones.
  • Produce and maintain manpower forecasts, equipment plans, rental analyses, and project schedules.
  • Lead project planning meetings and coordinate preconstruction activities.
  • Identify project risks early and implement solutions before they impact schedule or budget.
  • Assist with subcontractor and material procurement activities.
  • Monitor labor productivity, equipment utilization, rental costs, material budgets, and job costs.
  • Complete weekly manpower analyses, project observations, rental analyses, and forecasting reports.
  • Track gains, fades, and project performance metrics while communicating updates to the Project Team.
  • Support estimating by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement during project execution.
  • Serve as the communication bridge between field operations and the corporate office.
  • Conduct regular meetings with project teams, subcontractors, owners, and general contractors.
  • Prepare agendas, meeting minutes, progress updates, schedules, and three-week look-ahead plans.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation using company software platforms, including OneNote and Raken.
  • Communicate proactively with Superintendents multiple times each day to ensure project alignment.
  • Promote and uphold SCG Fields' safety culture on every project.
  • Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), daily reports, and safety documentation.
  • Coordinate project-specific safety plans in partnership with the Director of Safety.
  • Exercise Stop Work Authority whenever unsafe conditions or work practices are observed.
  • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, contract documents, building codes, and applicable regulations.
  • Oversee quality control for both self-performed work and subcontractor performance.
  • Foster positive working relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and design professionals.
  • Address project issues professionally and collaboratively while protecting SCG Fields' interests.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for schedule, safety, workmanship, and contract compliance.
  • Support project closeout activities, including review of as-built documentation and final project deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, productivity, communication, and operational processes.
  • Share lessons learned with Operations, Estimating, and Project Management teams.
  • Assist in developing best practices that support the continued growth of SCG Fields.
  • Other duties as assigned.
