M&J is seeking a Construction Inspector who is familiar with standard construction policies, methods, materials, and equipment. This position typically inspects construction work to ensure compliance with building standards and project specifications. This position is for a project located in Puerto Rico. Requirements

  • Familiarity with standard construction policies, methods, materials, and equipment.
  • NICET Level II or higher, or equivalent state certificate
  • EIT Certificate
  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology
  • A minimum of 4 years of increasingly responsible applicable construction engineering experience

Responsibilities

  • Function as a construction inspector and technician.
  • Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of the project.
  • Determine the acceptability of the day‐to‐day work performed by the contractor.
  • Review and recommend accepting or rejecting daily reports submitted by the contractor.
  • Perform inspection of the contractor’s quality control procedures and material testing and verifies that procedures are in conformance with the approved Quality Control Plan and established procedures.
  • Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measures quantities of materials placed.
  • Perform sampling and/or in‐place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
  • Experience working on highway construction projects that include full depth reclamation construction, replacing and repairing drainage structures, guardrails installation, concrete work, bridge repairs, traffic sign installation and pavement markings, among others.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
