About The Position

Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc., a Caterpillar dealership, is seeking a motivated self-starter to work as a Construction Paving Equipment Field Technician. The role focuses on independently troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing paving equipment in the field. When field service work is not assigned, the technician performs equipment repair and maintenance in the shop.

Customer satisfaction is a primary concern. The successful candidate needs strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with customers and solve problems. The work takes place in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, heat, cold, injury hazards, and atmospheric conditions. The position also involves physical activities and requires compliance with DOT and company requirements when operating vehicles.

Requirements

• Knowledge of diesel engines.
• Knowledge of hydraulics.
• Knowledge of electronics.
• Knowledge of paving equipment.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good human relations skills and the ability to communicate and problem-solve with customers.
• Graduate of a technical school or military school, or relevant working experience acceptable to the company.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must meet DOT regulatory and CBE requirements for operating CBE or related vehicles and sign required documentation.
• Physical capabilities including stamina; sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching; listening and speaking; motor coordination; and coordination of eyes, hands, and feet.
• Verbal and numerical intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair paving equipment in the field.
• Perform equipment repair and maintenance in the shop when not assigned to field service work.
• Communicate and problem-solve with customers while prioritizing customer satisfaction.
• Meet DOT regulatory and CBE requirements for operating CBE or related vehicles.
• Sign documentation required to meet DOT regulations and CBE requirements.
