About The Position

The Construction Field Technician tests, inspects, and evaluates construction materials—including soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates—to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards. The role supports quality control and safe, durable construction practices through field testing, site inspections, and laboratory testing.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, and industry standards.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in civil engineering technology, construction management, or a related field.
ACI and ICC testing certifications.
One to three or more years of experience in construction materials testing or inspection; entry-level candidates may also be considered.

Responsibilities

Perform field testing on construction materials, including soil compaction, concrete strength, and asphalt density.
Perform tests and inspections on construction materials.
Collect and prepare material samples for analysis.
Record, interpret, and report test results accurately and promptly.
Inspect construction sites for compliance with project specifications, codes, and safety standards.
Operate and maintain testing equipment and tools.
Communicate findings to engineers, project managers, and contractors.
Identify potential material or installation issues and recommend corrective actions.
Follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
