The Complex Scheduler performs advanced, time-intensive scheduling to support complex surgeries, imaging, and procedures occurring outside the current clinic, including in hospitals and outpatient radiology centers. Advanced scheduling work is defined as spending at least 75% of the employee’s time coordinating cases performed in an ambulatory surgery center or inpatient setting, multiple specialties, or preoperative and postoperative testing and clearance. The role may also coordinate complex, sequential treatment appointments, including clinical trials and standard-of-care patients, and transplant-related workups and evaluations for donors and patients. The scheduler serves as the primary point of contact for transplant patients and their families. Additional duties may include scheduling return visits, ancillary appointments, new patients, imaging, and procedures; completing patient data forms; coordinating provider referrals; retrieving medical records; and acting as an administrative resource to staff involved in coordinating patient care. The scheduler works with management to address or escalate patient complaints, covers front-desk and other back-office duties as needed, supports training of new PCCs and administrative staff, completes required precertification authorizations, and performs other duties as assigned.
