The Complex Scheduler performs advanced, time-intensive scheduling to support complex surgeries and imaging or procedures outside the current clinic, such as those at a hospital or outpatient radiology center. Work is considered advanced and time-intensive when at least 75% of the employee’s time is spent coordinating cases performed in an ambulatory surgery center or inpatient setting, multiple specialties, or pre- and post-operative testing and clearance. The role may also coordinate complex, sequential treatment appointments for clinical trial and standard-of-care patients, as well as transplant-related workups and evaluations for donors and patients. The Complex Scheduler serves as the primary point of contact for these patients and their families. Additional work may include scheduling return visits, ancillary appointments, new-patient registrations or appointments, and imaging or procedures within the local clinic; completing patient data forms; coordinating provider referrals; and retrieving medical records. The position also serves as an administrative resource to staff coordinating patient care, works with management to resolve or escalate patient complaints, provides coverage for front desk and back-office staff as needed, supports training of new PCCs and other administrative staff, completes required precertification authorizations, and performs other duties as assigned.
