About The Position

BAYADA Home Health Care is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community settings. The role supports individuals with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities as they build life skills, gain confidence, participate in community activities, and work toward personal goals. Support may include spending time on clients’ favorite hobbies, accompanying them on errands and appointments, encouraging progress, and providing personal care assistance as needed. The position is part-time, with flexible weekday and weekend opportunities in Hilo, Kea'au, Mountain View, Pepe'ekeo, Ocean View, Waimea, and surrounding communities. Compensation starts at $20 per hour, with opportunities for higher rates when supporting clients with more complex needs, and pay is weekly. BAYADA provides training, ongoing clinical support, professional development opportunities, flexible scheduling, client matching, and mileage reimbursement. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available.

Requirements

At least one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Ability to transport clients to community activities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 18 years of age.
Ability to read and write in English.

Relevant experience may include supporting individuals with disabilities, working in behavioral health or special education, providing dementia or Alzheimer’s care, or caring for a family member.
