About The Position

This position provides a supporting role to the Patrol and Detective Divisions. The ideal candidate is someone who is pursuing a career in Law Enforcement.

Requirements

• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• Interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement
• Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with people
• Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
• Ability & willingness to handle animal related situations
• A neat, well-groomed appearance
• Qualities such as competence, independence, self-sufficiency; dependability
• Residence within a 10 mile radius of the geographic boundaries of the City of O’Fallon or within the geographic boundaries of St. Clair County, IL within 90 days of completing the first year of employment
• Valid driver’s license in good standing as required by the City’s insurance program
• Regular attendance
• Ability to walk, run, stand, and sit
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, pick-up and carry objects, equipment or people
• Ability to complete a variety of motor skills
• Must be able to pass a background check

• Handling animal complaints (pets and wildlife)
• Vehicle lockouts
• Business information checks
• House checks
• Vehicle and other equipment transport for maintenance purposes
• Motorist assists
• Year-round park patrol
• Police department staff support
