About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) collaborates with nonprofit organizations that are recognized by the IRS as 501(c)(3) due to their charitable programs. These organizations aim to enhance the quality of life for community residents or address specific community needs. GCU has a partnership with Callahan Care, located at 5115 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85017. Callahan Care offers services to the Phoenix community at no cost, including free open closets, free open pantries, free furniture, free home goods, and free classes such as ESL, financial literacy, and resume building. The work schedule for this CSLP student worker will align with Callahan Care's hours of operation and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year (fall/spring). This position has been approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b), meaning it provides services to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve problems related to their needs. These services must be open and accessible to the community. As an FWS-CSLP approved position, services will be offered to non-GCU community members. All FWS and FWS-CSLP positions require applicants to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with other nonprofits to integrate their services in order to better service communities/areas
  • Maintain relationships with nonprofit partners to schedule and ensure participation in community service events
  • Ensure proper inventory management
  • Resolve concerns of partnered schools
  • Other duties as assigned.
