About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations, specifically Callahan Care, to improve the quality of life for community residents. Callahan Care offers free services such as open closets, pantries, furniture, home goods, and classes like ESL, financial literacy, and resume building. This student worker position is approved for Community Service (CSLP) and requires the student to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at GCU, maintain a minimum GPA (2.0 for Bachelor's, 3.0 for Master's), and be in good financial and academic standing. Eligibility for Federal Work-Study (FWS) requires completing the FAFSA.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must complete FAFSA to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain partnerships with business and school leaders to coordinate donations and drives, ensuring collected items reach those in need.
  • Track and report on donation efforts, highlighting community contributions and impact.
  • Design and coordinate events to bring the community together, focusing on resources for those in need.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders to enhance event reach and impact.
  • Manage social media and digital platforms to raise awareness about our services, events, and community impact.
  • Develop and share engaging content that educates the public and promotes organizational initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
