About The Position

Tin Can is building screen-free devices and services that help kids connect with family and friends without smartphones. The Community Experience Specialist supports the company’s Communities program by serving as the first point of contact for schools, PTAs, and parent groups, and by guiding group orders, fundraisers, donations, and community directories from initial inquiry through launch. This is a full-time, in-person role on the Communities team. The specialist reports to the Head of Communities and works day to day with the Community Experience Manager and teams including Growth, Finance, Operations, and Brand. The role focuses on the daily community experience; events and the Connector program are handled by the Community Experience Manager. It is suited to an ambitious, self-starting person early in their career, with opportunities to learn and improve the program as it grows.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and an ability to earn trust quickly.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to work in person at the office, on community visits, and at occasional events.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, including the ability to manage many requests without letting things fall through the cracks.
  • Ability to learn tools such as CRMs, Shopify, and spreadsheets, and keep data accurate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make people feel welcome and heard.
  • A bias toward action and a get-it-done approach.
  • Empathy for families and belief in Tin Can’s mission.
  • Genuine interest in schools, parents, and family-focused communities.
