About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the Phoenix Valley to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with Callahan Care, located at 5115 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85017. Callahan Care offers free services to the community, including open closets, pantries, furniture, home goods, and classes such as ESL, financial literacy, and resume building. This position is a Federal Work-Study Community Service Learning Program (FWS-CSLP) role, meaning the work directly benefits the local community, particularly low-income individuals. The student worker's schedule is dependent on Callahan Care's operational hours and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. Applicants must complete the FAFSA to be considered for FWS eligibility.

Requirements

Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain partnerships with business and school leaders to coordinate donations and drives, ensuring collected items reach those in need.
Track and report on donation efforts, highlighting community contributions and impact.
Design and coordinate events to bring the community together, focusing on resources for those in need.
Collaborate with local businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders to enhance event reach and impact.
Manage social media and digital platforms to raise awareness about our services, events, and community impact.
Develop and share engaging content that educates the public and promotes organizational initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
