About The Position

The Community Affairs Liaison for the Westchester/Hudson Valley area will support the implementation of community engagement strategies under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Community Affairs. Serves as a frontline ambassador for LiveOnNY, building relationships and delivering culturally responsive outreach programs to advance organ, eye, and tissue donation awareness. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a commitment to hands-on engagement in diverse communities across the LiveOnNY donor service area. The Community Affairs Liaison is expected to adhere to all organizational policies and applicable regulatory obligations, stewardship of resources, confidentiality, and ethical conduct, and to devote all professional time to the performance of the responsibilities of this job description and remain available to fulfill management responsibilities inside and outside standard business hours as LiveOnNY’s needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of experience in developing and implementing effective grassroots strategies and educational campaigns, or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals and documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write simple communications and documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information to co-workers, the general public, and management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • A commitment to working in a culturally diverse organization and community, to quality, excellence and a strong performance improvement program, and to both clinical and administrative goals is required.
  • Requires an energetic and wholehearted approach toward relationship building.
  • Must be able to travel within the LiveOnNY service area.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand and sit.
  • Occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; lift and climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute grassroots engagement activities as directed by supervisor, including presentations, health fairs, and community events.
  • Deliver culturally tailored educational programs to diverse ethnic and racial communities.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, and influencers to support departmental initiatives.
  • Represent LiveOnNY at community forums and events, reinforcing organizational messaging and values.
  • Assist in the coordination and logistics of outreach programs and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and evaluations for reporting purposes.
  • Work closely with the supervisors and other team members to ensure consistent delivery of outreach strategies.
  • Provide feedback from the field to inform program improvements and future planning.
  • Assist Family Support Advocates on an as-needed basis, providing onsite response to advocate for donation and to support families through the organ and tissue donation process.
  • Initiates timely donation conversation with families either in person or telephonically and in collaboration with hospital partners.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
