About The Position
Highway Intelligent Traffic Solutions, LLC (HITS), a Helix Traffic Solutions company, is seeking dependable, hardworking, and motivated Common Laborers to support construction crews and field operations. HITS builds, installs, integrates, and maintains transportation infrastructure and intelligent traffic systems throughout Texas, including traffic signals, guidance signs, dynamic message systems, fiber optics, radar, and cameras. This hands-on role involves outdoor construction, concrete work, foundation preparation, equipment installation, and general job site support. The position calls for a strong work ethic, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to work safely as part of a team. Laborers help deliver quality transportation infrastructure that supports roadway safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn new skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction crew.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and participate in on-call or emergency work as needed.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous construction or general labor experience preferred.
- Concrete finishing experience is a plus.
- Experience with framing, building forms, and preparing foundations or concrete equipment pads is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily construction activities, project installations, and field operations.
- Perform general labor duties, including digging, grading, site preparation, material handling, and cleanup.
- Assist with forming, pouring, leveling, and finishing concrete.
- Build and assemble forms for concrete foundations, equipment pads, and other infrastructure installations.
- Assist with framing, foundation preparation, and construction of equipment bases and support structures.
- Support installation of traffic signal foundations, cabinets, poles, signs, and other transportation infrastructure.
- Assist with preventative maintenance, emergency maintenance, and minor field repairs as directed.
- Respond to emergency service calls and assist with troubleshooting and repair activities as needed.
- Assist with locating underground utilities and preparing job sites for construction.
- Load, unload, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment.
- Communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and other contractors.
- Complete and submit required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and job site requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
