The S&P Global Energy Commodity Associate Program is a seven-month rotational development program with March and September 2027 intake cohorts. Participants complete one month of structured training followed by two three-month rotations across different commodity sectors. The program provides broad exposure to energy and commodity markets and prepares participants to move into a permanent price reporting role in one of the commodity teams. Rotations and final placements are based on business needs; successful participants who meet expectations will be offered full-time permanent employment at the end of the program. Based in Houston, participants join the Platts price reporting team and develop as specialists in their assigned markets. They gather qualitative data and intelligence from market participants, conduct price assessments using established methodologies, and learn to write market commentaries and news pieces that inform pricing benchmarks and analytics. Exposure may include Oil, Power, Natural Gas, LNG, Coal, Petrochemicals, Metals, Agriculture, and Shipping, as well as topics such as supply and demand, infrastructure, geopolitics, transportation, and regulation. The role contributes to S&P Global Energy’s news, pricing, and analytical services, which support transparency and efficiency in markets. Price reporters produce insightful market commentary, identify trends, and build relationships that help customers anticipate market-moving events. The program includes training in the foundational skills and topics needed for price reporting and offers the opportunity to work within a diverse, inclusive team and culture.
