The S&P Global Energy Commodity Associate Program is a seven-month rotational development program with cohorts starting in March and September 2027. It begins with four weeks of structured training, followed by two three-month rotations across different commodity sectors. Participants learn foundational skills in price reporting, including writing market commentaries and news that inform pricing benchmarks and analytics, and are prepared to transition into a permanent price reporting role. Permanent placements and rotations depend on business needs; participants who meet expectations and perform well may be offered full-time permanent employment at the end of the program. The role is based in Houston and is part of the Platts price reporting team. Associates gather qualitative information and intelligence from market participants, conduct price assessments according to established methodologies, and learn about topics such as supply and demand, infrastructure, geopolitics, transportation, and regulation. Exposure may span Oil, Power, Natural Gas, LNG, Coal, Petrochemicals, Metals, Agriculture, and Shipping markets. The team produces market commentary and reporting that supports transparency and efficiency in commodity markets and helps customers anticipate market-moving events. Candidates for the March 2027 intake must have completed an undergraduate degree by February 2027; candidates for the September 2027 intake must complete it by August 2027. Postgraduate students are also encouraged to apply. Students from all academic backgrounds are welcome, with relevant fields particularly valued. The program is designed for curious, motivated graduates interested in commodities, reporting, and developing a career in a dynamic, diverse team.
